BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday said not only Awami League, but other political parties also have the records of engaging in dishonest schemes with the ruling authorities.
"We (BNP) have seen many times in the past that many political parties are involved in making underhand dealings by many with the state power," he said, emphasising his disapproval of party members who may have been involved in the schemes.
He made the remarks at a doa mahfil for the salvation of martyred souls of rickshaw pullers, students, children, and others killed during the recent movement against Sheikh Hasina recently at Bhasani Auditorium in the capital.
The event was organised under the banner of "Ordinary Rickshaw and Van Pullers".
Mr Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said Sheikh Hasina and those who participated in election under Ershad (the then fallen autocrat) would be treated as illicit collaborators.
"BNP is such a party that is moving forward by facing adverse situation over the last 16 years. The division you are mentioning about other parties amid this just achieved victory wouldn't bring any benefits to all," he said.
Accusing those who are trying to create division, he said, "BNP is a party formed by the declarer of the country's independence. This party of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman havs always led to victory of any democratic movements in the past," he stated.
"They (AL) have narrated democracy by their own definition and amended the constitution upon their will. They used police force for their own interests and police fired bullets on students, children and people during the recent movement,” he added.
