AL ought to beware of them

Wednesday, 4 May 2011

The Awami League should take serious note of a group of people, who pretend to be supporters and well-wishers of the present government, but are actually doing the opposite. They are working against the interest and tarnishing the good name of the government-led by the Awami League. The Prime Minister should take note of the activities of the Gonotranti Dal and some individuals who have been making some blood-boiling statements like removing Bismillahir-Rahman-ir-Rahim from the constitution, which seriously hurts the sentiment of the majority of the people in Bangladesh. These groups rather blame Islam for the crimes committed by a handful of 1971 war criminals. The nation is aware of the fact that the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was the founder of the Islamic Foundation. It was he who donated the Tablig Ijtema ground in Tongi for yearly Tablig congregation, attended by millions of Muslims from all over the world, which plays a vital role in strengthening our Iman (faith) and other Islamic values. It was again our great leader who had banned horse races and all kinds of gambling in the country. And freedom and free practice of all religions is also enshrined in the constitution. How the leaders of the Gonotranti Dal dare make statements to remove Bismillahir-Rahman-ir-Rahim from the constitution. Who are they and what is their actual identity? The pious and regular five-time praying Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, should be cautious against those trying to make her government unpopular and jeopardizing the prospects of the party in general elections.
