Friday, 6 March 2009
The ruling Awami League (AL) has chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the historic March 7 in a befitting manner, reports UNB.
On this day 38 years ago Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his historic speech at the Race Course Maidan had declared independence.
The programme includes hoisting of the national as well as party flags atop Bangabandhu Bhaban and party offices at 6.00 am.
A rally will be organised at Bangabandhu Bhaban and wreaths to be placed on the portrait of Bangabandhu at 7:30 am.
A discussion will also be held at Engineers' Institution at 3.00 pm. Prime Minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina will preside over the meeting to be attended by party's central leaders and intellectuals.
AL joint general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam in a statement called upon all party workers and leaders to celebrate the occasion across the country.
