Bangladesh Awami League Wednesday formally requested Chief Adviser (CA) Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed to release detained party chief Sheikh Hasina and initiate steps for her ear treatment in the United States, reports UNB.
An application, signed by party's acting general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, was handed over to Khairul Islam, steno of the 4th gate of the Chief Adviser's Office, at about 4:00pm. AL leaders Adv Abdul Mannan Khan, Ashim Kumar Ukil, BM Mojammel Hossain and Ahmed Hossain carried the letter.
In the letter it was stated that Sheikh Hasina fell 'seriously ill for seclusion in prison cell in an unhealthy environment following her detention in baseless cases filed against her one after another.'
