AL sends team to northern dists to distribute warm clothes

An Awami League (AL) delegation, led by its general secretary Obaidul Quader, went to three northern districts to distribute blankets and relief items among cold-stricken people there on Monday, reports UNB.
The three northern districts are Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Nilphamari, where a severe cold wave is now sweeping over, said a press release.
On Monday, the country recorded its lowest ever temperature in history at 2.6 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, Panchagarh under the influence of a severe cold wave.
The severe cold wave is likely to continue until January 10.
The chilling condition may improve after that, however, the temperature may fall or rise within this period.
Other delegation members are AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, organising secretary BM Mozammel Haque, MP, and relief and social welfare affairs secretary Sujit Roy Nandi.
The Monday's meeting of Awami League's presidium body was deferred to Thursday next for the distribution of warm clothes in the three northern districts.
The meeting will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday at Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi in the city.
AL general secretary Obaidul Quader requested all concerned to attend the meeting on time.
