Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col (retd) Oli Ahmad Bir Bikram has said Awami League (AL) should be banned as an autocratic and terrorist organisation, reports UNB.
"After the fall of the dictator, it is time for all to be united irrespective of caste, religion and political identity. The registration of AL as a dictatorial and terrorist organisation will have to be cancelled and it will have to be banned," he said.
Oli Ahmad came up with this remark while speaking at a press conference at the LDP central office in the city's Moghbazar area on Thursday.
He said compensation should be given to the families of martyrs and injured in the recent movement that toppled the Sheikh Hasina government. Their families should be compensated and rehabilitated and the injured persons should be given proper medical treatments, he said.
He also wished the success of the interim government in discharging its duties to be bestowed upon the new government.
The LDP President demanded all false cases filed since 2009 against those who were the victims of political vendettas must be withdrawn and such arrestees and detainees must be released immediately.
He said a list of abducted, killed and forcibly disappeared persons, including former lawmaker M Ilias Ali, must be prepared to ensure justice to these crimes.
"An independent inquiry commission should be constituted (in this government)," he said.
The gallant freedom fighter said the list of freedom fighters must be revised by cancelling the names of those who were illegally and unreasonably incorporated in the list after 1996.
