AL, SL men killed in Comilla, Ctg

COMILLA, May 22 (UNB): An activist of the ruling Awami League (AL) was stabbed to death by his rivals over previous enmity at Kalakandi Bazar of Haraikandi village in Titash Upazila Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Shah Alam Sarkar, 40, an activist of Kalakandi union unit AL.
Quoting witnesses police said three-four people swooped on Shah Alam and stabbed him indiscriminately while he was returning home at Kalakandi Bazar around 8:30 pm, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was rushed to Daudkandi Gouripur Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead around 9 pm.
Nure Alam Sarkar, brother of the deceased, said the rival group killed his brother over previous enmity.
Manirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Titash Police Station, said police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Another report adds from Chittagong: A Swechchhasebak League (SL) leader was stabbed to death by some miscreants over land-related dispute at Nasir Mohammad Para in Lohagara Uapzila Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Uddin, 28, president of Charamba union unit SL and son of Rahmat Ali of the area.
