AL spent over Tk 25m in Jan election

The ruling Awami League spent over Tk. 25 million in January 5 parliamentary election, according to its expense return submitted to the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday. A three-member delegation, led by AL office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, handed over the 35-page report to EC acting secretary Sirazul Islam at his EC office. It was signed by AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam. Golap told reporters that the money was spent on campaign rallies, processions, advertisements, campaign meetings by president of the party across the country and other related functions. Two other members of the delegation were AL Election Conducting Committee Treasurer Abdul Haque and member ABM Riazul Kabir Kawshar, according to a news agency.
