AL team seeks China's support in different sectors

BEIJING, Dec 3 (BSS): The visiting Bangladesh Awami League (AL) delegation Thursday sought China's economic and technical cooperation in different sectors, including infrastructure development of Bangladesh.
The five-member AL team, led by party's General Secretary and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, sought the cooperation during a meeting with Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Chen Thursday afternoon.
In the meeting, Bangladesh's Communications Minister and Deputy Leader of the Delegation Syed Abul Hossain said that during the tenure of the previous AL government, China became the most effective development partner of Bangladesh, especially in power, infrastructure, roads, bridges and fertiliser sectors.
Bangladesh is covered by many examples of the Chinese contribution, such as for construction of six bridges over different rivers and Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The delegation members laid emphasis that both countries should constantly strengthen mutual trust and work hard to find more common grounds for regional and multilateral cooperation.
Later, the AL team called on Chinese Vice President Xi Jin Ping, who is tipped as the next president of the country.
Other members of the AL delegation are: Presidium member of the party Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Joint Secretary Mahbub- ul Alam Hanif and Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain.
The AL team is scheduled to leave for Kunming Thursday night.
