AL won't counter hartal: Quamrul
Saturday, 27 November 2010
State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam has said that the November 30 general strike is not against the government but against the High Court (HC), reports bdnews24.com.
"BNP lawyers have come to realise that the Appellate Division will not deliver the verdict in BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's cantonment house on November 29," he said, while addressing a rally at Keraniganj Friday.
The minister said Awami League (AL) would not stage any demonstration or protest against the hartal.
He said, "Law enforcers will take stern action against those who want to create anarchy in the name of hartal."
The minister urged the BNP leaders not to join the 'issueless' hartal and to come to parliament.
Mr Quamrul also threatened to take steps against hartal supporters, no matter how powerful they are. "No one will be spared."
