Sunday, 28 December 2014

A Dhaka court has remanded Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal President Moazzam Hossain Alal for three days in police custody in a case over Wednesday's clashes in Dhaka's Bakshibazar. The BNP's youth affiliate chief was arrested at his Mohammadpur home late on Saturday. Police said he was arrested for plotting sabotage. Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Sunday denied Alal bail and gave police the time to interrogate him. Clashes erupted at Bakshibazar between BNP and Awami League supporters on Dec 24 when BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was scheduled to appear before a court in corruption cases. Awami League MP Chhabi Biswas was assaulted at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and his car was burned. Two cases were filed over the clashes and assault on Biswas, according to bdnews24.com.
