Alarming kidney diseases

Saturday, 8 August 2015

In our country the number of kidney patients is reported to be increasing rapidly. Food adulteration is a reason behind it. Around 50,000 people die annually in our country from various kidney ailments. Treatment of kidney disease is expensive and burdensome for the poor people. We should regularly get our kidneys checked so that we can keep ourselves fit and healthy. Adequate water should be taken regularly and alcohol, fatty foods, etc. should be avoided. We must not forget that prevention is always better than cure.
In this respect, the health authorities of the government should step up their campaigns to create awareness about this disease. The hospitals should encourage people to check their kidneys and keep a nominal charge for it so that people can afford kidneys tests regularly.  Two of my close relatives are suffering form this disease and I know what a very painful process it is. Kidney transplantation often takes years and the patients have to live on dialysis. If the present rate of kidney disease continues, we have a bleak future ahead in the health sector. We must also remain alert against the food adulteration so that we and our future generation can live a healthy life.
