All 6 newborns of same mother die in Sylhet

The sextuplates born off same mother in Sylhet have died within nine hours after their birth. Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital dources said all the six newborns of the same mother have died within a few hours of their birth. They died between 9:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday dawn, Osmani Medical College Hospital’s Deputy Director Abdus Salam has said. The woman from Rajaganj Union of the district’s Kanaighat upazila gave birth to the sextuplets without surgery around 12:30pm on Tuesday. The doctors said she was well after delivery. On Wednesday, Salam said all the six newborns were premature. “The babies were born at 26 weeks while it generally needs 40 to 52 weeks. They weighed below 700 grams. Their organs were not fully developed,” he said. “It becomes impossible to keep newborns alive if they weigh below one kilogram at birth,” he added, according to bdnews24.com.
