All closed mills will be reopened, says minister Monnujan

SATKHIRA, Apr 11: State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian assured that all the closed mills and factories in the country would be reopened, in a reversal of the policy prescribed by donor agencies and pursued by previous regimes. She spoke of the new government's move at a meeting of workers organised by Sramik League, the labour-wing of the ruling Awami League, at the poura auditorium here Saturday."The profitable mills and factories were first denationalised during the regime of President Ziaur Rahman, turning those into non-profitable concerns. In continuity of the policy, mills and factories were shut down one after another, rendering thousands of workers jobless," she told her audience. — UNB
