Saturday, 7 January 2012
All preparations have been completed for Khaleda Zia's road march towards the port city of Chittagong from the capital tomorrow (Sunday) to mobilise public support for holding next general election under caretaker government (CG) system annulled by the present government, reports UNB.
The main opposition BNP-led four-party alliance will organise its fourth road march on Sunday-Monday (Jan 8-9) after successful completion of its three such previous programmes.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will announce the next course of movement from a public meeting at the Polo ground in Chittagong city on Monday.
The possible programmes might include public meetings in district headquarters and grand rally in the capital.
"Presently, there is no possibility of a programme like Dhaka siege," a BNP standing committee member told the news agency Friday.
He said that after the Dhaka-Chittagong road march, there is a slim possibility of launching more road marches.
The BNP leader, however, said the next programmes are likely to be finalised at a meeting of the party's policymaking body today (Saturday).
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to lead the fourth caravan from the capital at 10.00 am.
While leading the caravan, she will address her first wayside meeting at Chandina in Comilla during leading the caravan and the second wayside gathering at the bus stand on Biswa Road at Padua in Comilla.
Khaleda will address her first public meeting at the Feni Government Pilot High School ground on Sunday (Jan 8). She will stay overnight at the Chittagong Circuit House.
The opposition leader will address the second public meeting at the Polo ground in Chittagong city on Monday (Jan 9) to conclude the road march.
Earlier, on October 10, Khaleda Zia kicked off the first two-day road march from capital Dhaka towards Sylhet, which was followed by another road march towards Rajshahi on October 18-19 and towards Khulna on November 26-27.
BNP joint secretary general Mohammad Shahjahan, who is also a member of the Dhaka-Chittagong road march preparatory committee, told the agency that the road march preparations have gone very well.
He said enthusiasm has been created among the local party leaders and workers over the road march.
