All units deployed for safe Eid travel: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir has said that measures have been taken to ensure smooth, safe, and orderly Eid travel for homebound passengers.
"All police units have been fully instructed to ensure a smooth, safe, and orderly Eid journey for homebound passengers," he told the media after inspecting Gabtoli Bus Terminal in the capital on Tuesday morning.
"All units will be fully deployed. The Bangladesh Police will remain vigilant. Any untoward incidents or wrongdoing will not be tolerated," he warned.
"This year, we are taking special measures to prevent passenger harassment, ensure fair ticket pricing, and minimise road congestion."
"We have held coordination meetings with relevant authorities and are leveraging technology to improve traffic management," he added, highlighting recurring challenges faced by travellers during Eid, including long highway delays despite early departures.
