All urged not to create confusion over move to amend labour law

The government Saturday urged all concerned not to create confusions over the move to amend the existing labour law to make it time-befitting, reports BSS.
"The government expressed the hope that all would play responsible roles by giving their opinions to the concerned committee without announcing programmes over the labour law," said an official release.
Newspaper reports on forming human chains by the garment workers to scrap the Labour (amendment) Act 2009 attracted the attention of the ministry for labour and employment, the release added.
The present government formed a committee with representatives of the workers, the owners and the government to formulate recommendations to update the labour law.
The committee published notices in newspapers seeking opinions of all quarters on the matter and received more than 900 recommendations so far.
The government is pledge-bound to amend the labour law through Parliament in line with the rules of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), taking in consideration the opinions of all concerned, the release said.
