All urged to help execute RTI Act

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry has called upon all concerned to extend cooperation for implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The Standing Committee at a meeting Saturday discussed in detail the progress in implementation of the RTI law.
Committee Chairman Obaidul Quader presided over the meeting. Committee members Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Shahin Monwara Haq, Reza Ali, Sarah Begum Kabori, BM Mozammel Haq and M Shahriar Alam attended the meeting.
Chief Information Commissioner M Zamir, Information Commissioner MA Taher, Information Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and chiefs of different departments and agencies under the information ministry were present at the meeting, said a JS release.
The meeting was told that all secretarial and legal procedures had been completed to ensure implementation the RTI Act.
Views-exchange programmes are going on at district and upazila levels to aware the people about the law.
Besides, recruitment of manpower in the information commission is going on as per its organogram.
The meeting was also told that measures were being taken for training of officials concerned of information ministry, information commission and the officials in charge of different units.
