CHITTAGONG, Dec 14: The YoungOne Corporation has resumed operation in all its production units in the CEPZ today after violent labour unrest that forced shut down of factories on December 11.
General Manager of the CEPZ SM Abdur Rashid has said that factories of the YoungOne Group resumed production Tuesday morning and most of the workers have joined their workplaces in the export processing zone.
"As many as 150 factories including two sportswear factories of Seoul based company reopened on Monday and the rest nine units of the Group has resumed production today," CEPZ GM said.
There is no disruption in production in any of the factories in the CEPZ including the trouble-stricken units of the YoungOne. There is strong surveillance of the law enforcers and additional police have been deployed in the area, said another CEPZ official. The attendance of workers in the industrial zone remains around 90 per cent, he added.
Meanwhile, three cases have been filed by police against some 30,000 unidentified men including those arrested. 31 miscreants were picked up from the scene on Sunday noon.
Tens of thousands of workers and outsiders damaged seven factories and some vehicles and a good number of private cars and buses at the CEPZ gate on the main thoroughfare in the city connecting the export zone, Chittagong Port, Chittagong Airport and major industrial and petrochemical installations at Patenga area.
