Alleged mugger succumbs to injuries at DMCH

An alleged mugger, beaten up heavily by students of the Dhaka University last evening, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Sunday morning, police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh police station Rezaul Karim told the FE that Parimal Mondal, 35, the alleged mugger, died at the hospital at about 10:00am. He was a resident of Indira Road at Tejgaon in the city.
Quoting an allegation filed against the deceased, the OC said that a gang of three persons, including Parimal, mugged Rajan, a second-year student of Management Department of the country's highest seat of learning, inside the Suhrawardy Udyan Saturday evening.
At one stage of the mugging, friends of Rajan caught Parimal after a hot chase and handed him over to the police after giving him a heavy thrashing, leaving him seriously injured, he said.
