AL\\\'s 2013 audit report shows Tk 57m profit

The Awami League (AL) has submitted to the Election Commission (EC) an audit report for the year 2013 showing a surplus of Tk 57 million. The ruling party, in its audit report, cited its earning Tk 124 million in 12 months till December 31, 2013, and expenditure at Tk 67 million, showing a profit of Tk 57m (5 crore, 70 lakh) during that period. A four-member AL delegation comprising the party’s office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, deputy office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Advocate ABM Reazul Kabir Kawsar and Swechchhasebok League leader Pankaj Debnath filed the annual audit report to additional secretary of the EC Secretariat Mokhlesur Rahman on Sunday afternoon. ‘The main source of the party’s income was from selling nomination papers for the last national elections. A total of 2,608 nomination papers were sold, each costing Tk 25,000. Other sources of income included fees from primary membership, subscription fees from its central committee members, among others,’ Advocate Kawsar said after submitting the report. He said the party’s expenditure covered accommodation costs, hospitality bill, election campaigns, holding rallies and seminars. Monday is the last date for submitting the report, according to a news agency.
