MANIKGANJ, July 31 (BSS): The plantation of Aman paddy is going on in full swing in all the seven upazilas of the district.
The farmers have devoted all their energy and resources in planting Aman seedlings and they are happy about the normal rainfall and availability of seedlings.
The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said they have already achieved the target of cultivation of Aman paddy in the fields. Cultivation is continuing all over the district and the desired target may double this season.
Sources said every year Aman paddy is cultivated in most of the Boro paddy lands of the district, except low lands, as the farmers can get extra crop and fodder for cows from it.
DAE sources said they have fixed the target of cultivation of 6,867 hectares of land for transplantation of Aman in the district during the current season and the target has already been achieved.
DAE sources said they have been continuing training programmes for the farmers for using measured fertilisers in their lands and using other inputs.
