Aman sent to jail
Sunday, 16 February 2014
BNP leader Amanullah Aman has been sent to jail by a Dhaka court upon his surrender before it in four cases filed for violence committed during the BNP-led 19-party alliance-enforced nationwide hartals and blockades last year. Senior Judicial Magistrate Taibul Hassan passed the order after rejecting his bail prayer when Aman appeared before the court and sought bail in the cases this (Sunday) morning. The cases were filed with Keraniganj Police Station on different dates in November and December in 2013 for damaging and torching vehicles and assaulting police and preventing them from discharging their duties during the alliance’s twin programme called demanding release of all opposition leaders and holding the 10th parliamentary elections under a non-party and neutral caretaker administration, according to a news agency.
