Amar Ekushey observed in BD missions abroad

Bangladesh missions abroad have observed the Shaheed Dibash (the Language Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day 2015 with due solemnity, said a Foreign Ministry media release Monday, reports UNB.
The day's programmes started in the morning with hoisting of the national flag at half-mast with the national anthem followed by recitation from the holy Quran and holy books of other religions.
One minute's silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the Language Movement, said the release.
Special prayers were conducted seeking salvation of the departed souls of the martyrs and for the prosperity of Bangladesh and wellbeing of its citizens.
Messages of President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam were read out.
Members of Bangladesh community participated in the discussion meetingss.
The discussion meetings were followed by cultural programmes performed by the misdsion officials and others. Posters on the day were exhibited and documentary films screened.
