American Corner in Rajshahi

The US ambassador in Bangladesh wants to see more Bangladeshi students studying in American institutions to what he has said build “personal bridges” between the two countries. Dan Mozena was inaugurating an ‘American Corner’ in Rajshahi Tuesday.
He said his vision was to increase the number of students studying in American institutes “ten-fold” using this Corner. He particularly encouraged Rajshahi students.
The envoy said the number was already going up by over 15 per cent a year.
According to the US embassy, the number of Bangladeshi students in US rose by 15.5 per cent in the last fiscal, Oct 2012 to Sep 2013, to 3,828.
American has its separate corners or centres in Dhaka’s Dhanmondhi, Baridhara, Sylhet, Chittagong and Khulna. Mozena said this new facility would be a centre of learning, according to a news agency.
