Aminul, nine others acquitted of land grabbing charge

RAJSHAHI, June 13 (BSS): All the 10 chargesheeted BNP leaders and activists including former posts and telecommunications minister Aminul Haque were acquitted of a land grabbing charge by a trial court here today.
In his verdict, Additional District and Sessions Judge-3 Abu Saleh Sheikh Muhammad Zahirul Haque said the prosecution side completely failed to prove the charge brought against the accused.
In the case, the plaintiff had mentioned that the accused in collaboration with each other had grabbed a piece of his land. After completing investigation, Godagari police submitted charge sheet against the accused. The trial court examined 13 prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence and finally pronounced the verdict.
However, the entire accused excepting one remained absconding since the trial.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Nurul Islam conducted the case on behalf of the state while Abdus Samad defended the accused present in the court.
