Amir Khasru sent to jail

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 21: BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was sent to jail after he surrendered before a court here on Sunday in connection with a case filed under ICT Act.
Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order as his (Khasru) bail granted by the High Court and the local court expired on October 21.
Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury said the case was filed against the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central leader and former commerce minister under Information and communications technology (ICT) Act as a telephonic conversation allegedly between Khasru and a Chhatra Dal leader went viral on social media in August last.
Acting general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chattogram City Unit Zakaria Dastagir filed the case with the Kotwali Police Station in the city on August 04, 2018 under the ICT Act.
In his case, he alleged that the BNP leader was instigating the party activists to join the student movement for safe road.
