Amir Khosru gets HC bail in two graft cases

Monday, 15 September 2008

The High Court (HC) Sunday granted ad-interim anticipatory bail for three months to fugitive ex-commerce minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on surrender in two graft cases, reports UNB.
Passing the orders upon separate petitions, a vacation Division Bench comprising Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Mamnoon Rahman also stayed the case proceedings regarding both Gatco graft charge and sellout of 18 abandoned houses. Both the cases have been filed by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) under the recent purge against corruption in high places during the past political regimes.
Just-released ex-premier Khaleda Zia is the principal accused in the Gatco graft case wherein a number of her other former cabinet colleagues were also implicated.
Khondoker Mahbub Uddin Ahmed appeared for the petitioner.
