Amit ton guides Victoria

A brilliant century by Amit Majumder guided Victoria SC to a 50-run win over all-losers City Club in their closing first phase match of the Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP ground in Savar Thursday, reports UNB.
In the day's other match, Mahmudullah Riyad's century went in vain as his team Old DOHS SC conceded a six-wicket defeat against Cricket Coaching School (CCS) in the last first phase match at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah.
With the day's shocking defeat, Old DOHS SC missed the super league berth with 10 points from 11 matches, equal with CCS and BKSP.
Victoria SC was placed 10th with six points while City Club remained at bottom without any point.
On completion of the first phase matches, six-teams-holders Dhaka Abahani Limited (20 points), Biman Bangladesh Airlines (16 points), Surjo Tarun Club (16 points), Partex SC (14 points), Dhaka Mohammedan SC (13 points) and Gazi Tanks Cricketers (12 points) -- qualified for the super league.
At the BKSP, Amit Majumder hit a century enabling Victoria SC to post 282 runs for 3 wickets in stipulated 50 overs after winning the toss against City Club.
Victoria made a good start scoring 97 runs in the opening stand after losing the wicket of opener Arman Hossain (29) and made 117 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.
Opener Amit Majumder hammered 104 runs off 85 balls with 13 fours and three sixes to be adjudged man of the match while skipper Sharifullah made not out 63 off 68 balls with four fours and a six.
Shafaq Al Jabir, Rasel Al Mamun and Mahfuz Kabir took one wicket each.
