Amount of stipend should be significant

Stipend for the students of Primary School Certificate (PSC) Examination was declared on February 14 on the basis of examination result and thana quota. About 55 thousand students have been selected for talent pool and general categories. Each talent pool student will get Tk 200 per month whereas each general student will get Tk 150 up to class eight. Each student will also get an additional amount of Tk 150 per annum.
The amount of stipend is a motivating factor for the students to study. The present amount, given as stipend, is very insignificant. The amount of talent pool stipend per month for each student should be increased to Tk 600 and for general stipend to Tk 500. Students of both the categories should get Tk 1,000 consolidated every year. Investment in education does not go in vain. However, I would like to urge the government to increase the amount of stipend.
