Amu for tough action against destructive activities

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu  said Tuesday the government would take tough actions against the BNP, if it does politics through destructive activities, reports BSS.
"We want the BNP to criticise the government in a democratic way, shunning destructive activities in the name of politics," he said speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting in the city marking the 10th death anniversary of eminent labour leader Shaheed Ahsanullah Master.
The minister said the way the BNP is making comments on the abductions in Narayanganj, their complicity could not be brushed aside.
Shaheed Ahsanullah Master MP Smriti Parishad organised the meeting at National Press Club with its President Advocate Abdul Baten in the chair.
Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haq, former DUCSU VP M Akhtaruzzaman, Awami League Labour and Manpower Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Trade Union Kendra General Secretary Dr Wazedul Islam Khan and Jahid Hassan Russel, MP, addressed the meeting as special guests.
Moderated by Ataur Rahman, the meeting was also addressed by Awami League leader M Mostafa Kamal Humayun Himu, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote leader Arun Sarkar Rana and Advocate Aman Hossain, among others.
Amir Hossain Amu said the BNP had started hatching conspiracy afresh to create constitutional vacuum in the country.
The BNP does not believe in the country's independence and sovereignty. Therefore, the party cannot give up the company of the war criminals of 1971, he added.
AKM Mozammel Haq said Ahsanullah Master was killed in a planned way for protesting against injustice and irregularities.
He said BNP Chairperson's son Tarique Rahman had built a house named 'Khoyab' in Gazipur. Ahsanullah Master used to protest against immoral activities in that house and he was killed for this, he added.
Ahsanullah Master was gunned down in broad daylight at MA Majid Mian High School ground on May 7, 2004 allegedly by BNP-led alliance-backed terrorists.
