Amu pledges support to scale up export

Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu Thursday pledged to offer all kinds of support to industrialists to export on a large scale.  
He made the promise while handing over cards to 56 Commercially Important Persons for 2014 at a function held at Purbani Hotel in the city.
Secretary of the Ministry of Industries (MoI) Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan presided over the programme.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Kazi Akarm Uddin Ahmed as the special guest said the industrialists are plying a significant role in developing the country's economy.
He called upon the government to provide the unused lands to the entrepreneurs so that they could establish cottage industries that will generate employment and contribute to the economy.
He called upon the government to patronise local industries and give subsidy to the sector for achieving a sustainable development in the sector.
The CIP (industry) status recognises contribution of the awardees to industrial development, manufacturing, employment generation and economic upliftment. They were selected as per CIP (Industry) Guidelines 2012.
They will get cards from the ministry of industries (MoI) for one year.
The CIPs (Industry) could have entrance to the Bangladesh Secretariat, and will get invitation cards for participating any state programmes, enjoy cabin facilities at any public hospitals, use VIP lounge-2 of the airport and the government may include them in any industry related policy making committee.
The ex-officio twelve CIPs are President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) AK Azad, President of National Association of Small and Cottage Industries Bangladesh Samity (NASCIB) Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Md Atiqul Islam, President of Bangladesh Employers Federation (BFA) Tapan Chowdhury, President of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) Nasrin Fatema Awal, President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) AKM Salim Osman,  President of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BWCCI) Sangita Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) Mohammad Shams-Uz-Joha, President of Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Bangladesh Rupali  Chowdhury, former president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Mohammad Shahjahan Khan and former president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI,) Bangladesh Rokia Afzal Rahman.    
The MoI selected 21 persons in large scale industrial category. Nine persons were given for their contribution to medium scale industry. They are: MD of Citadel Apparels Ltd Md Mahidul Islam Khan, Director of BD Sea Food Ltd Mohammad Badrul Haider Chowdhury, MD of Ako- Text Ltd Abdus Sobhan, MD of Bashamuti Distribution Ltd ZM Golam Nabi, MD of BRB Polymer Ltd Md Mojibur Rahman, MD of Jemini Sea Food Ltd Kazi Shahed Ahmed, Director of BD Foods Ltd Mohammad Tafhim Al Azmi, MD of Atlas Sea Food Ltd SM Mizanur Rahman and Director of Eglo Foods Ltd, Monem Business District ASM Moinuddin Monem.
On the small scale industry category, the persons are: MD of Kiam Metal Industries Ltd Md Mijbar Rahman, MD of Bailey Yarn Dyeing Ltd Md Masud Jaman, MD of Footbread Footwear Ltd Aniruddha Kumar Roy, Chairman of Karim Spinning Mills Ltd Abdul Hai Sikder, Director of Amanat Shah Weaving Processing Ltd Lutfa Begum and  MD of Technomedia Ltd Joshoda Jibon Debnath.
On the micro industry category the recipients are: Chairman of RMM Leather Industries Ltd Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin and Proprietor of AB Fashion Maker Sanaul Haque Babul and for the  small cottage industry category Proprietor of Janani Weaving Factory Md Rafiqul Islam (Paran).
The five persons who received the cards  for their contribution in the service sector industry are: Vice- Chairman of Navana Real Estate Ltd Sajedul Islam, MD of STS Holdings Ltd Khandaker Monir Uddin,  Director of Shanta Properties Ltd Jesmin Sultana, Chairman of Navana Ltd Shafiul Islam and MD of Sheltech (Pvt) Ltd Dr Toufiq M Seraj.
