Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu urged Danish entrepreneurs Monday to invest in Bangladesh's environment-friendly shipbuilding and pharmaceutical sectors, reports UNB.
"If any specific proposal for investment in the potential sectors of Bangladesh is made, it will be considered properly," he told Danish Ambassador in Dhaka Ms Hanne Fugl Eskjaer during a meeting at his ministry office.
The minister said Bangladeshi entrepreneurs have already started exporting ships, and thanks to the quality of the ships exports are on the increase.
The Danish envoy said entrepreneurs of Denmark are interested to invest in the green industry sector of Bangladesh. A joint business delegation comprising entrepreneurs of Denmark and Sweden will visit Bangladesh in this connection.
The business delegation will discuss joint investment in various sectors including renewable energy, biogas, power, maritime instruments, steel, textiles and sewerage management.
She said a Danish company has taken an initiative to produce milk powder and sell the packed milk powder in Bangladesh, and sought the minister's cooperation for making the venture successful.
Additional secretary of the ministry Farhad Uddin and high officials of the Danish embassy were present at the meeting, said a release.
