President Abdul Hamid has expressed profound shock at the death of language movement veteran Abdul Matin. In a condolence message on Wednesday, conveyed by President's press secretary Ihsanul Karim over phone, the President who is now in Saudi Arabia said Abdul Matin had played a leading role in the historic Language Movement in 1952 which the nation will remember forever. 'The nation has lost an illustrated son of the soil in his death,' the President said. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and conveyed sincere sympathy to the bereaved family, according to a news agency.
