Angry Ctg garment workers damage vehicles, factory

CHITTAGONG, Aug 15: Angry garment workers damaged some 50 vehicles and two floors of their factory in the port city's Bayezid Bostami area Wednesday afternoon, demanding their outstanding salaries. Witnesses said around 2,000 workers of Shirina Garments blocked Bayezid Bostami road at about 3:00 pm and damaged the rooms of its two directors. Later, the factory owners promised to clear the arrears of the workers and reached an understanding with the local administration and the BGMEA leaders in this regard. —UNB
