Saturday, 5 September 2015

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Anisul Haque Saturday stressed the need for taking concerted efforts to rid the city dwellers of the problems of serious water-logging and traffic jams the capital city is reeling from.
"We are focusing on coordinated initiatives to remove water-logging and traffic jam as part of our massive campaign to make Dhaka a livable city," he told the Meet the Press at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
Anisul said, "I am working sincerely to fulfil my commitments, which were made before DNCC polls and many initiatives have already been taken to build a green Dhaka."
Waste stations will be set up at 70 points of the city to ensure healthy waste management for Dhaka city, he added.
Water bodies are being filled by land grabbers resulting in water-logging in the Dhaka city even after moderate rainfall. In the wake of recent water-logging in the city, Anisul sought cooperation of journalists to recover water bodies to get rid of the problems, a BSS report said.
DRU President Sakhawat Hossain Badsha and General Secretary Ilias Hossain, among others, were present at the meeting.
