Another accused held, three on remand

MADARIPUR, Aug 15 (UNB): Police in a drive arrested another accused in the case filed for killing two schoolgirls after rape from Terobhaddi village in sadar upazila early Saturday.
The arrestee was identified as Rakib Shikdar, a class X student of a local school.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4am and arrested him. With the arrest of Rakib, three people have been arrested so far in this connection.
On Thursday, some unidentified miscreants killed the two girls after violating them in Sadar upazila.
Meanwhile: A court here on Saturday placed three accused on a 7-day remand each in the case filed over killing of two schoolgirls after rape at Terobhaddi village in Sadar upazila on Thursday.
Chief Judicial Magistrate KM Zakaria passed the order when Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Sajahan, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the trio-Rakib, Shipon and Rafiq- before his court seeking a 10-day remand for each of them.
Among them, Shipon and Rafiq were arrested on Thursday while Rakib Shikder this morning.
On Thursday, some unidentified miscreants killed the two girls after violating them in Sadar upazila.
Officials at Sadar Hospital said four unidentified young men had brought the two girls of Mustafapur High School to the hospital in a critical condition on Thursday afternoon, saying that the duo took poison to commit suicide.
