Wednesday, 29 October 2014

A Dhaka court in Dhaka issued Tuesday a warrant for the arrest of sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique in a case filed for hurting religious sentiments of the Muslims with his derogatory comments on Hajj, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate SM Ashiqur Rahman came up with the arrest warrant as Latif did not appear before the court Tuesday in compliance with its earlier order.
This was the fourth arrest warrant for the former Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister.
Earlier, two Dhaka courts on October 15 and October 20 issued arrest orders for Abdul Latif while a Chittagong court on October 23.
Following a case filed by Advocate ANM Abed Raja, former president of Dhaka Metropolitan Bar Association, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mizanur Rahman on October 1 asked Abdul Latif to appear before the court in person on October 28 to explain his remarks.
