Another BGB man succumbs at CHM

One more Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troop died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka last night, raising the number of fatality to six in Wednesday’s blast during a drill at Ghatail Cantonment in Tangail district. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the BGB sepoy posted at Dinajpur Sector who sustained critical injuries in an explosion during a training session with army men on Wednesday morning, succumbed to his injuries at the CMH around 11pm yesterday, BGB spokesperson Muhsin Reza has said. The other BGB and Army personnel dying in the mortar shell burst are Senior Warrant Officer of Bangladesh Army’s 4th East Bengal Regiment ‘Manju’, 35, Warrant Officer of the 20th East Bengal Regiment ‘Parvez’, 46, and BGB troopers Lance Nayek Mohammad Ali, Sepoys Abu Sufian and Ekramul Haque. Eleven others, including Jinnah, were sent to the CMH at Dhaka Cantonment after they were injured when an 82mm mortar shell went off during BGB’s exercise at the Army’s Field Firing Range at Shaheed Salauhddin Cantonment at Ghatail upazila in Tangail around 11:30am yesterday. With the latest fatality, two army men and four BGB personnel died in the incident that left 10 injured, according to a news agency.
