Another body recovered from Shitalakkha

A team of Narayanganj's Bandar Police Station recovered the body of another person from Shitalakkha River on Thursday, raising the number of dead bodies rescued from the river to seven within 20 hours. The body, with its hands and feet tied with bricks fastened to make it sink, could not be identified immediately but police and locals suspected that the corpse could be of abducted NCC Councillor Nazrul Islam’s car driver Jahangir’s. On Wednesday, Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Councillor and panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and four others, including car driver Jahangir abducted three days ago, were found dead. Four of the bodies were found floating in Shitalakhya in Bandar Upazila around 3pm Wednesday. Police found two more bodies later, around 6pm. Nazrul was abducted on Sunday from Narayanganj city’s Adalatparha along with four of his aides. Chandan Sarkar and his driver Md Ibrahim also went missing around the same time and place. The other bodies recovered on Wednesday were of the councillor’s aide Tajul Islam, Juba League activist Moniruzzaman Swapan, another aide Liton, also a Juba League activist and Chandan’s driver Ibrahim. Nazrul’s car driver ‘Jahangir’ was unaccounted till then, according to a news agency.
