Another case filed against Giasuddin in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ, Sept 15 (UNB): Another case was filed against former Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) lawmaker Giasuddin Saturday on charge of extortion.
Amir Hossain, a lime trader of Siddhirganj area, filed the case with local thana against the former lawmaker.
According to the case, Giasuddin had been realising Tk 60 per maund of lime from the lime traders of the area as toll since 2002.
Amir Hossain, owner of Badsha Limes and three other lime traders paid a total Tk 6.44 million (64.4 lakh) to the lawmaker in various installments between the years 2002 and 2003 following a threat of stopping their business.
A total of 12 cases have so far been filed against Gaisuddin, the police said.
