Tuesday, 28 October 2008

Yet another assigned High Court (HC) division bench Monday declined to hear the applications, filed by six ex-ministers accused in the Boropukuria coalmine graft case, for quashing the charges, reports UNB.
The matters have been sent to the Chief Justice (CJ) for orders, court sources said.
A division bench comprising Justice M Mozammel Hossain and Justice M Afzal Hossain Ahmed declined to entertain the quashing petition moved by Barrister Abdur Razzaq for his client Jamaat Ameer and former minister Motiur Rahman Nizami.
Earlier, Sunday, presiding judge of another division bench, Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq, felt embarrassed to hear the petitions. Later, the CJ assigned the matter to the division bench headed by Justice M Mozammel Hossain for hearing Monday.
The five other petitioners were former ministers Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujaheed of Jamaat, and M Saifur Rahman, Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and AKM Mosharraf Hossain of BNP.
