Another held for killing Ekram

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel have arrested another suspected killer of Phulgazi Upazila chairman Ekramul Haque. The arrestee is Abul Hossain Jahangir, 40, son of Korban Ali of Gazaria village of Feni Sadar upazila. A total of 23 people have so far been arrested for the murder. A team of RAB-7 conducted a drive at the village and rounded up Jahangir around 11:30pm on Friday. RAB suspected that Jahangir might have been involved in stabbing Ekramul Haque. Later he was handed over to Feni Model Police Station on Saturday. On May 20, miscreants intercepted the microbus of Feni’s Phulgazi Upazila chairman Ekram in front of Bilasi Cinema Hall on his way to Phulgazi town from his Masterpara residence. The assailants opened shots at Ekram from a very close range and then set fire to his microbus trapping the UZ chairman inside the vehicle in broad daylight. They left the scene after confirming Ekram’s death on the spot, according to a news agency.
