Another man falls prey to enforced disappearance

Another man has become victim of enforced disappearances in the country. Local people found the body of Abul Based in Chatmohor Upazila in Pabna district on Friday, 10 days after he was picked up from his residence at Baraipara village in Atghoria Upazila by a group of men introducing themselves as law-enforcers. Police said, locals spotted the body of Abul Based, 38, son of Abdus Sattar of Baraipara village of Atghoria, lying at a field at Kukragari Natunpara in Chatmohor around 9:00am on Friday. They said being informed, police recovered the body, bearing injury marks, and sent it to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. Police and locals said the victim remained traceless for 10 days after his alleged abduction from his residence at Baraipara in Atghoria. Based’s family members alleged that a gang of miscreants identifying themselves as law enforcers forcibly entered their house at dead of night on November 12 and picked him up at gunpoint. They dragged the Based into a microbus and vanished with the victim, according to a news agency.
