Another RAB man held over N\\\'ganj 7 murders

Another member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been arrested over Narayanganj 7 murders. Purnendu Bala, Sub Inspector (SI) of Narayanganj-based RAB-11, was arrested in Tejgaon area in Dhaka city on Friday for his alleged involvement in the 7 murders. RAB-2 sources said, being tipped off, a team of RAB-2 picked him up from Tejgaon industrial area around 1:25pm. On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of Narayanganj District Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were abducted on their way to Dhaka. Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including those of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from Shitalakkha River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from Dhaleswari River on May 1. Three former RAB officials, including Lt Col Tareque, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana, who were arrested earlier, confessed to their involvement in the multiple killings, according to a news agency.
