Another Rab man remanded in N\\\'ganj 7-murder case

A Narayanganj court on Sunday placed another member of Rapid Action Battalion-11 on a 7-day remand in a case filed over abduction and killing of 7 people here. The remanded Rab man was identified as Asaduzzaman Nur. Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin passed the order after officer-in-charge of Detective Branch (DB) of police Mamunur Rashid, also investigation officer of the case, produced Asaduzzaman before his court seeking a 10-day remand for the accused. Rab-11 sources said the elite force arrested Asaduzzaman for his alleged involvement in the abduction and murders of 7 people from Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj city on Saturday. On April 27, Narayanganj City Corporation’s (NCC) panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his car driver and three associates, and the district bar association’s member and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and his car driver and were abducted in Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. A few days after their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul, was recovered from Dhaleswari river on May 1, according to a news agency.
