Another shipment of 60,000 tonnes of US wheat arrives

Another consignment of over 60,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States has arrived at the Chittagong Port, reports UNB.
A vessel named 'MV Spar Aries' carrying 60,802 tonnes of wheat docked at the outer anchorage of the country's premier seaport on Monday, said a statement of the Ministry of Food.
The shipment came under a cash purchase agreement signed as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is importing wheat from the US on a government-to-government basis.
Under the agreement, a total of 440,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported while the first consignment of 56,959 tonnes arrived on October 25.
Sample testing of the wheat on board has already started and measures are being taken for its prompt clearance.
