Another Tejturi Bazar fire victim dies

A man, suffered burns in a fire in Tejturi Bazar near Farm Gate in the city on April 10, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday. With this, the death toll hit six in the devastating fire that broke out at a hardware shop on the ground floor of a three-storey building at Tejturi Bazar under Tejgaon Police Station in the city. Mahmudul, who was under treatment at the DMCH along with other fire victims, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital’s burn and plastic surgery unit around 8:00am, DMCH police camp sources said. Five other victims in the fire – Jahurul Islam, 60, Ibrahim Khalil, 65, Motaleb Hossain, 14, Shafiul Azam, 45, and Abdul Latif, 60, – succumbed to their injuries either at the shop or at the hospital in the last 20 days. Eleven people were injured, six critically, as the fire broke out at the shop that also used to store inflammable chemical and accessories of ready-made garment factories, according to UNB.
