Ansar, BJMC, Gazipur move into semifinals

Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, BJMC, Gazipur and Rajshahi DSAs moved into the semifinals of the Walton 20th National Women's Volleyball Championship winning their respective matches at the Dhaka Volleyball Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB. Holders Ansar & VDP will play Gazipur DSA in the first semifinal while BJMC will meet Rajshahi DSA in the other semis, both Tuesday at the same venue. On way to the women's semis, Ansar & VDP team beat Dhaka University by 25-7, 25-6, 25-5 points while Gazipur DSA edged past Satkhira DSA 20-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 15-7 points. In the Walton 25th National Men's Volleyball competition, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police, Chittagong University, Khulna DSA and Satkhira DSA advanced to the quarterfinals winning their respective group matches at the same venue Sunday. All the four quarterfinal matches - Army vs Satkhira, Navy vs Border Guard Bangladesh, Air Force vs Khulna DSA and Police vs Chittagong University - will be held today (Monday). In the men's group matches, Bangladesh Army defeated Rangpur DSA by 25-17, 25-9, 25-13 points, Khulna DSA beat Satkhira DSA 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 and Bangladesh Navy beat Pabna DSA 25-11, 25-11, 25-8 on Sunday.
