The two Ansarullah Bangla Team men arrested in Dhaka on Tuesday night were making a remote-controlled aerial surveillance devise to photograph important structures in Bangladesh for carrying out attacks on pin-point targets, police say. Being tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted a drive in Jatrabari area on Tuesday midnight and arrested Tanjil Hossain Babu and Golam Maula Mohan, reportedly members of Ansarullah Bangla Team, an outlawed militant outfit. DB headquarters sources said the two suspected militants were arrested from a house. The detectives also recovered from their possession the components needed for remote-controlled aerial surveillance drones and equipment used to devise airborne photographic object and other materials needed to fix targets on ground from air to carry out subsequent attacks. ‘Both the arrestees are members of the Ansarullah Bangla Team,’ said Detective Branch Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sanwar Hossain. ‘They were trying to make a drone or a quad helicopter to photograph important structures in the country for subsequent attacks,’ he said. Details of the drive will be informed at a press briefing later, according to a news agency.
